| The Whomping Willow
The Whomping Willow was planted with Remus J. Lupin first came to Hogwarts as a student. It served as a cover for an entrance to the Shrieking Shack just outside of Hogsmede Village where he could transform into a Werewolf without hurting anyone. It's quite a vicious tree and there's a knob at the base of the trunk that will curb it's branches for a while is pressed.

The students can swim in the lake or even say a friendly hello to the Giant Squid that resides in it. If you're really unlucky, you might be caught by a Hinkypunk, or have a mermaid snare you.

| The Shrieking Shack
This abandoned building is "said to be the most haunted building in Britain". It was used during the Marauders Era as a safehouse for Remus J. Lupin, then a student. He could change into a werewolf there without harming anyone else until the full moon had passed. There is an entrance to Hogwarts underneath the Whomping Willow.
